Nice to see you around.
Wow, it's Monday at noon and I am still hurting from this weekend! I feel like I got ran over... Might be because I have mysterious bruises on my thighs, kneeds, and calves. Then I've got a lump on my forehead... and my neck is sore!
So a quick recap...
My friend from Indy came up Friday night. We decided to play it low-key. We went to the town Christmas tree lighting. Then went out to dinner with some of my friends from the Township. We drank some wine and watched some Arrested Development. Mostly we played it all low-key as we were both saving ourselves for Saturday night.
Saturday was interesting. I thought I had a single ticket that no one would take, so I advertised on a few of the boards hoping someone would take it. Sure enough I got a call at 8am from this guy that said he would like to buy it. He drove an hour down this way to pick it up. I was feeling good because I didn't lose any money. After we made the exchange I stopped in at work to talk to a couple of the guys that were going to go. As I'm telling them how excited I am that I just sold the ticket and don't have any worries they inform me that my BROTHER told this girl she could have it and that she had gotten someone to work for her and everything. AHHH! I immediately called him and reamed him out. I was so ticked. So I went back home posted some threads asking for a single, no luck. I finally just called TicketMaster and bought a single ticket. I figured that they would be able to find a way to sit together.
Anyway, around 4pm we decide to crack a couple beers. 4:45 or so I picked up my brother and we went to pick up a sandwhich tray for the limo and then headed to Applebee's for a drink and to wait for the limo to get there. All the while getting more excited.
On thing that kind of upset me... My friend J had told me at the last minute that she wanted to go. She says she didn't know we were getting a limo and such and didn't want to go with us. All the tickets that I had bought over the course of the last month and half were spread out. All but two were in the lower bowl. Well, since I had 12 people paying extra money to go on the limo I didn't feel like it was fair to give any of them the upper bowl tickets. So I gave J those tickets. They really weren't bad seats. Only 9 rows up. If she would have gotten them herself she would have been behind the stage, upper bowl. She's a good friend but I really thought it was the only fair thing to do. Well, she was pissed. When I told her that they were the worst seats and my reasoning behind it wasn't personal she didn't see it that way. Then she basically insinuated that I was cheating her on the ticket price. I told her 61 each... the ticket I bought on Ticketmaster earlier that day was $63.50! Not cool. I actually got people tickets for cheaper than what they could have done had they bought them through Ticketmaster!
I haven't talked to her since the concert but I am kind of mad. I had to drive over an hour away to pick up those tickets. I did all the work and searched everyday to find everyone tickets. In fact, I probably STILL lost money on the deal!
Anyway, so aside from that around 6:15 we all piled into the limo, put on a DMB DVD, and made our way to pick up two of our friends and make a stop at the liquore store. We got to the venue just before 8. After he dropped us off we all went in, bought some drinks and then found our seats. I felt like I had barely sat down when all the sudden here comes Dave walking out in these orange pants and starts into "Don't Burn the Pig" followed by "Best of What's Around"...
Our seats were AWESOME! My seats were perpendicular to the 1st row. I was close enough that I didn't even need to look at the screen, I could see him and the rest of the band perfectly clear. The people around us were all really cool as well. Super nice. Too bad that at some point during the show I reached the "point of no return". We're talking stupid drunk.
I was in the bathroom so much that I think I missed about a 1/3 of the show. I really hate that. I usually don't drink much during a show and even stop completley after awhile... At one point I was on my way to the bathroom and tripped up the stairs. I went up the stairs and one of my shoes went down. Think that's why I've got bruises on my knees.
Anyway, the show was awesome. They played nearly 3 hours!! He played several songs that I hadn't heard live yet, including "Linus and Lucy" and "the Christmas Song."

When the show was over it was unexpectedly snowing... not just a little but enough to really mess up the roads. As such it took us a long time to get home. The plan had been that he would drop us off at three places, my friend's house, applebee's and my house. We got there so late that he couldn't drop us of at my house. So we decided to get a cab back... My brother took my car. Which also we later found out had my purse, phone and house keys in it. When we got home my other brother was nowhere in sight! We had to go over to my neighbor's apt and spend the night there! Which explains the creaky neck as I was on the love seat.
Needless to say I was feeling very sore, tired, and horrible on Sunday. I had a great time but I won't be drinking for awhile, that was just dumb.
I may have mentioned this before but DMB lets people tape their shows.... I can't wait for this one to come out. It definately had one of the best setlists I've ever gotten. And the band was just awesome, really into it the whole time. I hope they come back to Joe Louis, it was definatley better than the Palace. Great show, great crowd... so much fun. I think all the DMB newbies that went with us had a great time as well. Not sure that any are converted into big time fans but they all said they had a blast, which makes me happy!
